For the last 20 years, the impact of globalisation drove the requirement for business connectivity to evolve into complex global network solutions. Due to the evolution from analogue through digital to IP based circuit, phone and LAN data systems solutions, Telecom Providers were required to build Professional Services teams of experts to migrate and integrate these services into solutions. This convergence and centralisation of networking and security skills, inevitably provoked private companies to evaluate the value of dedicated network management resources and were attracted to outsourced models.
We were very much part of this evolutionary shift to Telecom Service Providers as accredited consultants for those 20 Years. During these tenures, we developed and grew teams, sharing our expertise with customers in rapidly evolving data, voice and security technology. This experience was rewarding and valuable, allowing us to grow, mature and gain insight into the wider field of IT services.
But, the paradigm of service provision has evolved again as the proliferation and consumption of Internet and Cloud application solutions are growing rapidly. Now all traditional Telecom Provider services can be consumed, replicated and actually superseded by openly available Cloud, Internet, SIP, Software-Defined and Application Managed Services. Critically, these services are no longer exclusive to telecoms operators and can be delivered by a increasing community of independent IT Solutions Integrators, powered and supported by the same major manufacturers.
This rapid digital transformation and consumption of publicly available Internet application services is eroding telecom providers’ traditional revenues. Large operators, as licensed providers of Mobile, Landline, Broadband and Connectivity Services are typically slow to adapt due to their operating processes and commitment to providing “core business activities”. Attracting investment to adapt, taking risks and maintaining shareholder return in such harsh market conditions is challenging.
We felt that these factors and direction inevitably would limit the development and investment in adapting to and embracing disruptive technologies. This doesn’t align with our passion for innovation and the ability to support our clients’ desire to benefit from innovative technologies.
This, combined with the unprecedented Covid situation of 2020 and enforced mobilisation of staff, presented the appropriate time to create Enso, supporting our clients need to secure and manage their borderless workforces.
